From Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin to Elvis and Motown, the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra brings its soulful, Southern big-band style to the Fine and Performing Arts Center on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 3 p.m., at Moraine Valley Community College, 9000 W. College Parkway.
Tickets are $30, $25 for seniors, and free for children and students with ID. Those who qualify for free admission must acquire a ticket to reserve a seat.
Fashioned in the style and swagger of the Sinatra and Martin pack, this high-energy show features the 17-piece orchestra’s own stamp on the Great American songbook graced with a touch of Motown, Ray Charles, Elvis, Johnny Cash and more.
Band leader Jeremy Davis, who plays tenor sax and sings, has directed various bands during more than 200 shows before forming the Equinox Orchestra with his lifelong best friend Clay Johnson. Davis has performed across the country with talented artists like The Allman Brothers, The Beach Boys, Jennifer Holiday, David Sanborn, Ellis Marsalis, several “American Idol” alums and many more.
Johnson, a vocalist and trombone player, has performed in thousands of concerts, musicals and shows on stages from Los Angeles to New York City. His passion for gospel has been heard in performances around the world, including India, Ethiopia and Ukraine.
