Moraine Valley Community College is offering noncredit programs for health professionals this summer, including Dental Assisting with Externship and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant.

Dental Assisting with Externship is a nine-week hybrid program with online, in-person lab and externship components. This will prepare students to become dental assistants, who take a patient’s medical history, prepare the room for procedures, take dental x-rays, record medical treatments, order dental supplies and more. Students who complete this course will be prepared to sit for the Dental Assisting National Board, Radiation Health and Safety, and Infection Control Exam. The course runs June 8 to Aug. 3, 6 to 9:30 p.m., on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Certified Medical Administrative Assistant program runs for 16 weeks in a self-paced, online format with weekly individual and group check-in meetings with a Moraine Valley success coach. Certified medical administrative assistants work in the front office of a medical practice or health care facility, where they schedule appointments, process insurance requests, maintain records and billing, and correspond with patients. All books, materials and voucher to complete the certified medical administrative assistant national certification exam are included in the course fee. Class begins Aug. 23, but students must register by Aug. 9.

Registration is ongoing and can be done online, by calling (708) 974-2110 or visiting the Registration Office, Building S, Room S103, 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills.
