“Beyond Inking,” by mixed media fiber artist Gretchen Jankowski, is the next art exhibit to be displayed in the Robert F. DeCaprio Art Gallery in the Moraine Valley Community College Fine and Performing Arts Center (FPAC), 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills. The show runs April 23 to May 18, featuring a reception with the artist on Thursday, April 24, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The display’s abstract woven botanical and sewn patters tempt viewers to touch and feel them. Jankowski creates large-scale pieces and soft sculptures, often in a series, many with iterations of the same patterns and print. She relishes discovering new techniques and creating the unexpected, including the mishaps.

Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, but living and working in Forest Park, Jankowski earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio arts from Columbia College Chicago and a Master of Fine Arts in printmaking from California State University, Long Beach. She is a full-time printmaking instructor at Governors State University.
