The Moraine Valley Community College Academic Theater Department is holding open auditions for “The Thanksgiving Play” on Monday, March 2, from 6 to 9 p.m., in the Fine and Performing Arts Center, 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills.

Written by MacArthur Fellows Program grant winner Larissa FastHorse, the play centers around four well-intentioned theater folks who tackle staging an elementary school Thanksgiving pageant that won’t ruffle any feathers. What happens in this satirical comedy is a rambunctious, thorny and slightly politically incorrect story that serves up the hypocrisies of “woke” America on a big platter.

People of all ages, ethnicities, gender identities and backgrounds are encouraged to audition. Those auditioning should prepare a short monologue from a modern play. While not preferred, cold readings will be available, if needed. The show will run from April 24 to May 3 with rehearsals adjusted based on cast schedules.

Interested actors can sign up in advance in Building F, Room F150, or by contacting Dr. Craig Rosen at rosen@morainevalley.edu.
