Moraine Valley Orchestra

While not all the composers on our Spring Concert are from the 21st century, the MVO aligns its Spring concert repertoire with Moraine Valley’s One-Book One-College “Disability Visibility: First-person stories from the 21st Century”. The MVO concert will include music by composers who suffered from blindness, deafness, malformities, depression and schizophrenia: Beethoven, Stevie Wonder, and “The Pinball Wizard” all faced adversity. Through the centuries, these musicians have been put on a pedestal or just as easily, tossed aside while dealing with their afflictions. Alyssa Arrigo, Moraine piano faculty, will perform Robert Schumann’s florid and flowing “Piano Phantasie in A minor” with the orchestra under the direction of Maryann Flock.
