If you are a puzzle person (and if you are, you know that you are), then this is the event you have been waiting for.
Compete solo or in pairs to complete a 100-piece puzzle in the fastest time.
Individual Competition:
Participants entering in the individual contest will have to assemble a 200-piece jigsaw puzzle in a time limit of under 60 minutes. In the case of not finishing before the maximum time, the number of correctly placed pieces will be counted and recorded to make up the classification.
Pairs Competition:
Up to 2 people entering in the pairs contest will have to assemble a 300-piece jigsaw puzzle in a time limit of under 60 minutes. In the case of not finishing before the maximum time, the number of correctly placed pieces will be counted and taken to make up the classification. The participants who complete the puzzle with the fastest time (or in the case of a tie, the most pieces assembled in an hour) in each division will be pronounced the winners.
How to Enter:
See the librarian to schedule your timed entry or pick your preferred times online . If you sign up online, you will be notified of your official start time. Participants can select a start time on the following dates and times: Tuesday, April 8 at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., or 3 p.m. or Wednesday, April 9 at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., or 11 a.m.
Rules:
- Check into the library before your start time.
- You will be assigned a table and puzzle.
- Time is started, recorded, and ended by library staff.
- Contestants will not know what puzzle they will work on until their competition time.
- Puzzles provided by the library are the only ones allowed.
- There will be at least 1 moderator on the floor.
- Competition will be single round (until further notice).
- Stick to your own station.
- Official breaks will not be given, but if you would like to take a break feel free to do so on the time.
- No outside help is allowed.
- Do not distract or harass any other players. Semantics are not allowed. Players who have disturbed other contestants will be disqualified.
- Earphones are allowed, please keep them at a low volume as to not disturb others.
- If there are lost pieces from the puzzle, you will be granted 5 seconds extra to look for said pieces. Any number over 5 lost pieces voids the run.
- Sitting and standing is allowed, please be aware of your surroundings.
- Participants can compete in both brackets and have one attempt in each bracket. ex: singles once, and pairs once.
