It utilizes Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding. The goal of our programs is to inspire and motivate young adults while preparing them for the workforce. CC-YP offers two programs:

Out-of-School Program – Eligible youth must

  • Be between the ages of 18-24

  • Not currently enrolled in school, working, or are under-employed

For both programs, candidates must also have one or more barriers to employment such as: low income, deficient in basic literacy skills, a high school dropout, in foster care, pregnant or parenting, as well as other defined barriers.

Qualifying youth have access to our wide range of services such as:

  • Getting a Job
  • Resume Writing
  • Career Planning
  • Tuition Assistance
  • Scholarship Assistance
  • Academic Assistance

All of our services are designed to help prepare young adults for post-secondary educational, employment opportunities, and attain educational and/or skills training credentials and/or degrees that lead to secure employment. By providing assistance with basic skills, ACT/SAT preparation, as well as college and scholarship searches, we help our participants prepare for and achieve their post-secondary goals.

With our work skills development training, which includes: career assessments, work readiness skills, resume, cover letter preparation and interviewing technique workshops, computer skills training, financial literacy, and career exploration activities. We help our participants develop the desired work ethics and employable skills to better their efforts to find, and keep, employment.

We have established partnerships with local communities, schools, community-based organizations, and local businesses who have become worksite partners providing job shadowing and work experience opportunities for our youth’s development.

Over the years, Moraine Valley’s Career Connections Youth Program has provided employment opportunities, leadership development, supportive services, mentoring, and counseling services to several hundred youth. We have assisted our participants in developing integrity, character, positive self-esteem, and social skills that have promoted their overall success. Most of our participants would not have had an opportunity to realize their goals and improve their skills without this program.
