Business startup series gets a fresh voice.

Starting a business can feel like standing on the edge of a diving board – taking the leap is the hardest part.
The refreshed Business Start-Up Series welcomes instructor William Barnard, whose blend of real-world experience, leadership insight and creative energy brings a fresh perspective to the program. Born and raised on Chicago’s West Side, Barnard studied fashion merchandising, earned a master’s degree in organizational management and is pursuing a Ph.D. in leadership and organizational development.
Barnard will teach Branding and Using Socials and Securing Funding Sources, helping entrepreneurs build their brands, connect with customers and explore ways to fund their businesses. His teaching style is rooted in real-world experience, with an emphasis on practical skills, critical thinking and confidence.
“I want participants to leave feeling empowered and equipped with practical knowledge they can apply to real-world situations,” Barnard said. “Most importantly, I hope the series inspires individuals to believe in their vision.” For anyone with a business idea, creative project or side hustle, the Business Start-Up Series provides the tools and momentum to take the next step.
