The 2017 fall sports season for the Cyclones had more than a little excitement and plenty of accolades to boast about.

Moraine Valley’s successful run yielded 38 All-Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference honors and 20 All-NJCAA Region IV honors for individual athletes. Women’s soccer won a third straight conference and region championship as well as trip to the national tournament in Florida. They were undefeated during the regular season and ranked as high as No. 10 in NJCAA Division I. Men’s cross country won their first region championship since 2004 and competed at nationals in Iowa with one runner, Jordi Rangel, finishing in the top 100 (92nd)—a first for the Cyclone men in Division I.

Individually, two runners from the women’s cross country team, Calista Stefaniak and Theresa Orr, competed at nationals and one golfer, Mitchell Crook, qualified for the national tournament in May 2018. Two tennis players, Michelle Ambriz at No. 2 singles and Audrey Stocklen at No. 6, were individual region champions.

During the regular season, the women’s tennis team finished second in conference and region. Men’s soccer nearly advanced to the national tournament, losing in penalty kicks in the region final game. They also finished second in Skyway.

“I’m very proud of what our individual athletes and teams have done this fall. We’re fortunate to have such tremendous talent at Moraine Valley, which was really reflected in our successes. These accomplishments are a testament to our coaches and the history of our programs,” said Bill Finn, Athletics director.
