The 2014-15 Cyclones clinched the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference title, not done outright by any men’s basketball Skyway team since 2011. The 2012-13 squad made school history by finishing as runner up in the NJCAA national tournament finals, higher than any previous team. The 2012-13 squad also won more games in a single season than any other previous Cyclone men’s basketball team—31—and had 13 games where they scored 100-plus points in a win.

Past standout athletes include Richaun Holmes (2011-12), Karrington Ward (2012-13) and Dwight Mc Combs (2009-10). Holmes and Ward were each named to the NJCAA Division II All-American team after their respective seasons. Holmes was drafted in the second round by the Philadelphia 76ers in June 2015. Post-college, McCombs played with the National Basketball League of Canada, San Isidro in the Argentinian Torneo Nacional de Ascenso league and the Chilean Club Deportes Espanol de Talca. Ward was the first pick in the second round in the 2015 NBA D-League Draft.
