Nurse practitioner at Duly Health and Care

Dr. April Gallik has over 15 years of experience in the health care field and currently serves as a nurse practitioner at Duly Health and Care in Lisle.
Gallik began her medical career as a phlebotomist and later worked as a medical assistant before deciding to enroll in Moraine Valley’s Nursing Program. She earned her associate degree in nursing as well as an Associate in Science degree in 2013. While at Moraine Valley, she helped develop the Student Nurses Organization.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Purdue University Calumet and worked as a registered nurse at Metro South Medical Center in the ICU and as a medical/surgical registered nurse at Amita LaGrange Medical Center.
Gallik returned to school to pursue her doctoral degree while still working. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Rush University in 2021.
She worked as a nurse practitioner at internal medicine practices in Indiana and in Blue Island, Illinois, before assuming her current role at Duly.
Her specialty is internal medicine, and she treats patients from 14 years old through end of life. With a subspecialty in geriatrics, she especially enjoys working with patients over 65 years of age. She has a patient-centered approach and seeks to educate her patients so they can make
informed decisions about their health care.
In addition to her work as a nurse practitioner, Gallik devotes time to helping future health care professionals by serving as a volunteer nurse preceptor for students at the University of Michigan and Rush University.
She trains them in clinical environments and gives them helpful feedback. She also volunteers for an American Association of Nurse Practitioners mentoring program and is a member of the Advanced Practice Provider Council.
Gallik has received several honors for her exceptional work as a nurse and nurse practitioner. She was named Nurse Practitioner of the Year 2024 by Oak Street Health. While working on her doctoral degree, she
was awarded the Ormonde and Jean Lyder-Peters Endowed Scholarship in recognition of her academic achievements. She also is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
She has served as an adjunct faculty member at Moraine Valley in the past and hopes to do so again.
She is a published author in the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing.
Gallik and her husband, Jonathan Unander, live in Hickory Hills.
