Join us for our Parent Family Information Session to learn about the programs, resources, and services that Moraine Valley has available for you and your student.
Sessions will be available in English and Spanish.
Topics that will be covered include, but are not limited to:
Understanding financial aid and tuition can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to help. This session will walk you through the key information you need to successfully manage your account and avoid common mistakes that could delay your aid or impact your classes.
Topics include:
Financial Aid Deadlines – Learn important dates for submitting forms and documents to ensure your aid is processed on time.
Tuition and Fee Calculations – Understand how tuition is determined, what fees may apply, and how your enrollment status can affect costs.
Payment Deadlines – Review payment due dates and learn what happens if your balance is not paid on time.
Tuition Refund Policies – Find out when you may be eligible for a refund and how withdrawing from classes can affect your account.
Types of Financial Aid – Explore grants, scholarships, loans, work-study opportunities, and other resources available to help pay for college.
Maintaining Financial Aid Eligibility – Learn the academic and enrollment requirements needed to continue receiving financial aid each semester.

Career Program Worksheets – Semester-by-semester course plans designed to help students pursuing certificates and Associate in Applied Science degrees stay on track toward career-focused goals.
Educational Planning Guide – A roadmap for students pursuing an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree, outlining course requirements and recommended pathways for transfer.

Career Option
Associate in Applied Science degree (A.A.S.) and occupational certificates
This option is designed for students who desire immediate employment upon program completion.
• Is NOT designed to transfer
• Can be completed at Moraine Valley Community College
• Will prepare you to enter the workforce
• Examples include automotive technology, criminal justice, phlebotomy, nursing, mechanical design, software development, welding, etc.

Transfer Option
Students can complete their first two years of study at Moraine Valley for virtually any bachelor’s degree program at a four-year college or university. Each of the Moraine Valley’s associate degrees — Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.), Associate in General Studies (A.G.S.), and Associate in Engineering Science (AES) in Fine Arts (A.F.A.)—are a combination of core general education courses and major-specific electives.
Standards of Academic Progress (SOAP)
GPA below 2.0 places students on academic restriction, preventing them from registering or withdrawing from a course until a meeting with a counselor takes place.
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
As a college student, all information, records, and correspondence are directed only to you as the student according to FERPA. Therefore, prior written consent from the student must be obtained before information may be disclosed to
a third party.
Moraine Valley’s Academic Integrity Policy
Academic Integrity serves as the foundation to the learning process that enables the open exchange of ideas among students, faculty, staff, and administrators. Cheating and plagiarism does not promote academic integrity. Therefore, there are sanctions for multiple violations for cheating and/or plagiarism.
Smoke-Free Campus Act
Smoking is prohibited on all state-supported campuses of higher education in Illinois. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the Moraine Valley campuses except inside personal vehicles in parking lots. Persons found in violation will be ticketed and subject to student or employee discipline.
Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act
As an academic community, Moraine Valley is committed to providing an environment where learning and scholarship can flourish. The abuse of alcohol and other drugs by students, regardless of age and location (on or off campus) is prohibited by the Code of Student Conduct.
