This section features resources designed to meet the information and related needs of Cook County Sheriff staff regarding the criminal justice education and training partnership between Moraine Valley and the Cook County Sheriff Training Institute.

CCSTI Training Programs

Basic Corrections Officer
Moraine Valley Community College is awarding 27 college credits to recruits who successfully complete the 400 hour Cook County Sheriff Institute Basic Corrections Officer training program. To earn college credit, a recruit must complete and submit a college application at the start of the training program.

Basic Corrections Officer Proficiency Credit Program Form

Cycle Training (In-Service)
Upon successful completion of the scheduled 40 hour Cycle Training (In-service) training program, students will receive a total of 3 credit hours. To earn college credit, a recruit must complete and submit a college application at the start of the CCSTI training program.

Cycle Training Proficiency Credit Program Form

Specialized Training—Advanced Mental Health
Upon successful completion of the scheduled training program, students will receive a total of 3 credit hours. To earn college credit, a recruit must complete and submit a college application at the start of the CCSTI training program.

Specialized Training—Arrest Procedures
Upon successful completion of the scheduled training program, students will receive a total of 3 credit hours. To earn college credit, a recruit must complete and submit a college application at the start of the CCSTI training program.

Specialized Training—Narcotics
Upon successful completion of the scheduled training program, students will receive a total of 3 credit hours. To earn college credit, a recruit must complete and submit a college application at the start of the CCSTI training program.

Specialized Training Proficiency Credit Program Form

Criminal Justice Associate in Applied Science Degree (62 Credit hours)
As recognized, recruits will need only 38 credit hours to complete the degree by taking the necessary courses at Moraine Valley and/or receiving credit through transfer courses from other colleges/universities attended.

Security Services Certificate (11 Credit hours)
As recognized, recruits will need only 4 credits to complete the certificate by taking courses at Moraine Valley and/or receiving transfer credit from another college.

CCSTI Training Resources
Consistent with the Intergovernmental Agreement between the Cook County Sheriff Training Institute-Law Enforcement Education and Training (CCSTI) and Moraine Valley, college credits `will be awarded to students who successfully complete training programs.
