Moraine Valley earns 2026 Excellence in Mental Health and Well-Being Award

Moraine Valley Community College’s Counseling and Career Development Center received Insight Into Academia magazine’s 2026 Excellence in Mental Health and Well-Being Award, which recognizes institutions across the U.S. that commit to campuswide integration of mental health initiatives, including accessible services, peer support, emotional resilience and proactive policy.

Moraine Valley will be featured, along with 37 other recipients, in the September 2026 issue of Insight Into Academia magazine.

“It is an honor for Moraine Valley’s Counseling and Career Development Center to again be named an Excellence in Mental Health and Well-Being Award recipient,” said Dr. Scott Friedman, dean of Student Engagement. “For over 50 years, holistic mental health and well-being resources have been vital to the success of our students. Our counselors and staff go above and beyond every day to ensure our students have every possible resource to be successful academically and in their lives outside of school.”

Insight Into Academia magazine selected Moraine Valley’s Counseling and Career Development Center because of its decades-long commitment to providing counseling support on campus, the college’s collaborations with faculty and staff to enhance training and overall well-being, and the significant enhancements the college has made to essential needs resources in recent years. These factors have established the Counseling and Career Development Center as a leader in holistic well-being support among community colleges.

“We know that institutions are not always recognized for their dedication to and prioritizing mental health and well-being services and support for their students and employees,” said Lenore Pearlstein, owner and publisher of Insight Into Academia magazine. “We are proud to honor the colleges and universities who are standouts as the need for these resources continues to grow substantially.”
