Greening Our Campus

Moraine Valley, along with several other Illinois colleges, is signing a pledge initiated by Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn’s office to implement certain “green” actions that promote sustainability of resources on our campus. We’ve joined the Illinois Sustainable University Compact and committed to increasing our efforts in promoting the use of more sustainable transportation options, reducing our water usage, recycling, and utilizing non-toxic cleaning products whenever feasible.

As we move ahead on the plans for our Southwest Education Center in Tinley Park, we are pledging to earn the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by incorporating “green” practices into the new building.

Spring Brings New Campus Growth

Construction on the new Science Building and Instructional and Job Training Center on our Palos Hills campus will begin this spring. These new facilities will increase our classroom, lab, and meeting room capacity to better serve our students and the community. In honor of Dr. Crawley’s service to the college, the new Science Building will be named the Vernon O. Crawley Science Hall. Work began in the fall on the College Center to expand our student services areas, cafeteria, and child care center. Keep watching for the exciting changes as we grow to serve you better!
