YOUR SAFETY is Our
Concern
At Moraine Valley, we are
concerned about every aspect of your well-being. To help provide a safe and
secure environment for your educational experience, we have staff and technology
in place to provide round-the-clock protection.
-
Blue light panic buttons located in parking
lots that dial directly into our dispatch center
-
Emergency phones in campus buildings
-
Over 120 video cameras throughout campus with
plans to have
15 more by fall semester, including one with night-vision capabilities
-
Emergency phone system that allows us to
simultaneously contact
every student for whom we have a telephone number
-
Public address system that can be heard
throughout all campus facilities
-
Web site and student e-mail systems to provide
important information to students during a crisis
-
Use of text messaging is forthcoming to inform
students about an emergency
-
Photo identification cards for students
In addition, we have our own fully staffed 911
dispatch center that is operational 24/7, 365 days a year. We have certified
police officers who are trained in emergency response. Community service
officers are stationed in each building during all hours the college is open. We
maintain inter-agency agreements with neighboring police departments that will
assist our officers in a crisis. The North Palos Fire Protection District will
respond to any fire or hazardous material emergencies.
“The safety of our students is a top priority for us,” says Dr. Vernon O.
Crawley, college president. “We will continually look for ways that we can
ensure our campus is secure so students can feel comfortable and focus on
learning.”
