Course and Program Assessment

Course and program assessment assists the college in measuring the effectiveness of the curriculum at the institutional level.  Primary responsibility resides with the college, because the college:

  • Is responsible to all students for ensuring quality learning opportunities in every classroom.

  • Has developed and approved curriculum with learning outcomes as the guiding principles for instruction and expectations for learning.

  • Is in a position to see beyond the individual classroom to assess learning at macro levels.

The process of comprehensive course assessment involves faculty at several critical stages: review of learning outcomes, selection of best assessment methods, analysis of assessment results, and implementation of changes to improve student learning.
