Chicago hosts some of the largest conventions generating billions of dollars in revenue, which increases employment in nearly every aspect of the meeting/special events industry. Employment is expected to continue to grow faster than the average for all occupations over the 2004-14 period. Figures from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics show the median annual earnings of meeting and convention planners in May 2006 were $45,580. |
