The Public Service Department offers programs designed to prepare students to work in a variety of service industries. These programs include challenging classroom experiences and opportunities for on-the-job internships.

  • Addictions StudiesMeets professional substance abuse counselor certification training requirements.
  • Child CareProvides child care center management, teaching, and related training.
  • Criminal JusticeEmphasizes careers in the criminal justice field.
  • Fire ServiceMeets OSFM certification, and emphasizes careers in the fire service field.
  • Fitness TrainerProvides training for jobs in health fitness clubs, sports facilities, etc.
  • Meeting PlannerProvides students the knowledge, skills, and abilities to take a project from the conceptual stage into a successful meeting, conference, or gala fundraiser.
  • Physical Education and HealthFeatures aerobics, body building, fitness, health, lifestyle, nutrition, outdoor recreation, team sports, etc.
  • Private Protective ServicesEmphasizes careers in the security and loss prevention field, as well as criminal justice.
  • Psychiatric RehabilitationTraining program addresses the entire range of entry-level jobs in the mental health service delivery system for individuals who are not credentialed in one of the traditional mental health-related fields.
  • Recreation ManagementEmphasizes careers in the leisure services and commercial recreation industries.
  • Recreation TherapyProvides recreation therapist job training.

Admission Policies
Moraine Valley is a comprehensive full-service community college with an open-door admission policy for high school graduates and others qualified to enter.  Admission is available to individuals 18 or older who are high school graduates/GED recipients, or who have permission from their high school.
