This certificate program is intended to lead to employment. Students considering transfer to a four-year college or university to obtain a bachelor's degree using the courses from this program should make an appointment with an academic advisor to review options. Nature of Work—Graduates of this program are prepared to research and develop training programs for an organization's staff or contract outside the organization for training resources. Related Job Titles—Employment interviewer, human resources assistant, personnel clerk, personnel officer Employment Outlook—Employment of human resources assistants is expected to grow about as fast as average for all occupations through 2018, as assistants assume more responsibilities. For example, workers conduct Internet research to locate resumes, and must be able to scan job candidates' resumes quickly and efficiently. They must be sensitive to confidential information such as salaries and Social Security numbers. In a favorable job market, more emphasis is placed on human resources departments. Median annual earnings of human resources assistants in May 2009 were $36,650. The middle 50 percent earned between $30,120 and $44,550. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $24,970 and the highest 10 percent earned more than $53,160. Some employers offer educational assistance to human resources assistants.
