You will have the advantage of hands-on computer experience in the college's Center for Contemporary Technology. An internship is included in this program, which allows you to gain work experience, make employment contacts and work with others in the field. This program is intended to lead to employment. If you are considering transferring to a four-year college or university using the courses from this program, make an appointment with an academic advisor to review your options. Recent high school graduates may be eligible for college credit for selected vocational skills courses completed in high school. (See Tech Prep information in the college catalog.) Employment OutlookEmployment of service sales representatives is expected to grow much faster than the average occupation. However, the projected growth of particular service industries varies. Computer service sales representatives will increase much faster than average. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook 2002-2003, earnings vary widely by occupation and experience. The median income for customer service representatives was $24,600. In 2001-2002 the Job Placement Center listed 25 full-time postings, with an average salary of $11.11 per hour.
