This Moraine Valley Community College program prepares students for career opportunities that involve cross-training in the areas of electrical, mechanical, electronic systems and high-tech equipment that involves multiple, integrated systems. Students will learn how to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain these systems and high-tech equipment.

The Integrated Systems Technology Program is for individuals who are beginning training to pursue a career in this field, as well as those already working in the industry who need to upgrade their skills for on-the-job tasks, new supervisory responsibilities or career growth.

This program is intended to lead to employment. Students considering transfer to a four-year college or university to obtain a bachelor's degree using the courses from this program should make an appointment with an academic advisor to review options.

Nature of Work—Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and replace mechanical, electrical and industrial controls found in an automated plant or factory.

Employment Outlook—Overall employment growth is expected for electrical and electronics installers and repairers. Job opportunities should be best for applicants with a thorough knowledge of electrical equipment and electronics, as well as repair experience. Qualified applicants should find ample employment opportunities as older workers retire. Unlike many other manufacturing occupations, industrial machinery repairers are not usually affected by seasonal changes in production.
