This program will prepare students, who otherwise have a degree, with programming skills that will provide the background for entry-level or trainee positions or enhance an information technology professional’s versatility and career advancement potential.

Within this certificate’s courses, students will gain hands-on experience programming for the user interface of Android, the mobile operating system developed by an alliance led by Google. Students will create applications for these mobile devices using a customized version of Java.

Nature of Work—This program is designed to qualify students as an Android Developer. Android Developers design, develop, and maintain applications for mobile devices which use the Android operating system, which was developed by an alliance led by Google.

Employment Outlook—According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment in multimedia design is projected to grow at least 12% through 2018. The BLS further states that the need for individuals to create digital and multimedia artwork will drive that expected growth. The median annual wages of multimedia artists and animators was $56,300 with the middle 50% earning between $41,710 and $77,010. Additionally, the median annual wages for individuals in motion picture and video and motion picture industries was $65,600 and $52,530 in advertising.
