Library Remodeling Information Innovation Meets Renovation @ your library
The Remodeling is Complete!! Come Celebrate April 25th!
Thank you to all students, staff, and faculty for your patience and support during our remodeling project. You can see our documentation of the library's remodeling on our construction blog.
The library is now in its third decade of service to the Moraine Valley campus community. With recent changes to the information world and regular wear and tear of the library's physical space, it was time for a major renovation to our facility. Among other things, this renovation included:
- new furniture
- a reorganization of the library's layout
- new work space for staff
- new display shelving for periodicals
- a second instruction classroom
- study rooms
- a coffee bar
- and new lounge spaces
Thanks to funding through the Illinois State Capital Development Board the library will underwent a major renovation to its physical space. New furnishings, updated hardware, and network upgrades were provided by Moraine Valley.
The entire project will consist of three phases
- Phase I consisted of removing the collection from the first floor (ground floor) and completely remodeling the facility.
- Phase II focused on the north part of the second floor (upstairs).
- Phase III focused on the south part of the second floor (upstairs) near the main entrance of the library.
When: Actual construction will not began in June, 2004. The movers will arrived and started preparing the first floor May 24, 2004. The newly remodeled library was open to the public by January of 2005. |
