A terrific summer
July 1, 2008
Hello, everyone. Hope your summer is going well! I have been working a
lot and I am dying to get to the beach. Before the summer even started I
promised myself I would go at least six times this summer because last
summer I didn’t go at all. I still hope to fit that into my busy
schedule. Summer is too short to do things that you planned on doing.
Summer is just beginning, so try to relax as much as possible. That is
what summer is for.
I just received my spring grades! I am ecstatic at this point! I was so
scared to even take 16 credit hours, and I made the president’s list. I
am honored to say that I made a 4.0 for the spring semester. If it’s
something that you really want, you can do it, too! I really wanted it,
and I was able to accomplish another goal that I had.
Dream big, believe, set goals, accomplish them and repeat! Have a
terrific summer!
Great weather, great class
June 11, 2008
Hello, everyone. I hope you all are enjoying this beautiful weather that
we all were hoping for. Tuesday was my first class of BIO-111. The
teacher is wonderful. She loves her subject and teaches it quite well. I
need to thank my dear friend, Erika B., who recommended her for me, and
also the inventor of
Ratemyprofessor.com.
Luckily, before Tuesday came rolling around the corner, I became very
ill. I said "luckily" because I was actually able to hold myself up and
have an appetite for class. Sunday, I went to the Bears Expo at Soldier
Field. It was fun although this was when I felt weak and very exhausted.
Since I've been out of school I have been working non-stop. My body was
just worn out. Now I learned my lesson and have taken off two work days
to relax to rejuvenate. Trying to overdo things to get ahead may not
always be the best thing for your body. It really takes a toll. I am
still sore throughout my neck, back, and throat. Each day that passes, I
am much better.
Enjoy the wonderful weather and remember: be safe.
Time flew by!
May 20, 2008
Finals are complete and so is the spring semester! That just flew by so
incredibly quickly! I am looking forward to my summer class. I am
nervous because it's not an easy class for me. I have
taken summer classes since I have been attending Moraine Valley. I
recommend taking summer classes to help excel the speed of graduating.
You have options to choose for either a three-week course and still have
a long summer or take an eight-week class, which you will still have a
lasting summer to enjoy! I have taken both. I took a COM-103 for three
weeks, and I have taken MTH-098 and now BIO-111 for eight weeks. It is
so worth and it’s a breeze. I definitely recommend taking summer
classes. I hope that those who are taking summer classes have a fun time
with it and enjoy the summer feeling. Those who aren’t sure about taking
summer classes, I hope that I have helped in any way! Go for it and just
try it! You won’t know unless you try!
Lots going on!
April 29, 2008
Hello, everyone! May is just in a day and
what is going on with this weather? It's nice and then it isn't. It's
teasing me!
My roommate is packing up her things and is heading out by Thursday. I
wish the best for her as she starts a new journey.
I am taking a BIO-111 over the summer. I am expecting to receive an A
because I am only taking that one class. I can study and just focus on
BIO! I also just signed up for my classes in the fall. It seems to be
happening pretty fast. I am taking EDU-100 online, which I am scared
because I hate online classes.
I was also told that I am able to graduate in January of 2009! How
exciting!! I am thrilled!
Start selecting your classes because they fill up pretty fast! I hope
that others come to Moraine for the first time and realize that going to
a two-year community college is 100x better than jumping into a
four-year college. I have spoken with so many people that have gone to a
four-year college and are back at a two-year because of so many reasons.
Be prepared for finals and for selecting new classes for the summer and
fall.
Be safe.
Lots of great reasons to attend Moraine Valley!
April 3, 2008
Registration is just around the corner for those who are interested in
attending in the summer and those planning on attending in the fall.
I do recommend Moraine Valley for so many reasons. One: it’s
affordable—cheaper than other colleges. Two: it’s a great starting
point. You aren't counted as a number. You are counted as a student. You
are able to communicate with your instructor. Three: instructors
understand that you have a life outside this college. If something
happens for any reason, your instructor most likely would understand.
When I plan to have children (after my degrees of course), I will have
them attend a community college like Moraine Valley. It will not be a
waste of money if they find out that college isn't for them.
I also would like to update you on how I am doing. My roommate, who was
the ideal image for a roommate, just notified me that by the end of this
month she will be leaving. I am a little stressed, but need to keep my
cool. Everything happens for reasons and if I have to, I will work more.
Things are shaping up!
March 31, 2008
Looks like things are shaping up in wonderful ways! I was a little
frantic before about my job. Nothing is changing and looks like I will
be just fine! People say that I am a "worry wart"! It's hard not to
worry about things that can be a big change. You always need to have a
backup plan--for everything.
I also was awarded another Matthew P. Walsh Scholarship from the
(Moraine Valley) Foundation! I am quite honored and also relieved!
The weather was getting to feel like spring, but it's not today. It will
be here soon though!
Remember since spring break is over, the semester will fly by.
Study, live, and love.
Back to school
March 17, 2008
Spring break was over on Monday. So fast, yet so relaxing for some. It
was beautiful weather, might I add!
I have been going through so much. I had two take-home tests, four
papers that are due before the final, and also am dealing with my boss
selling her company.
I am getting demoted in every way shape
and form. I have to work harder, longer, and for less money. I am
stressed, breaking out, and really not relaxing. I am hoping to look for
another job for the weekends.
Everything happens for reasons and this will only make me stronger. I
need to keep my nose in my books and just worry about school to get a
wonderful career that I will enjoy and have security. You only live once
in this life so let’s all try and make the best of it.
I hope that everyone has had a wonderful break. Looking forward to
summer! Study, study, study! Live, laugh, love!
A Snowy Winter, A Sad Time at NIU
Feb. 18, 2008
Snow storm after snow storm—though I am not complaining at all. This is
what I call a real winter! Just enjoy winter while it lasts. I also was
just rear-ended last Wednesday. It was my very first accident. My neck
and upper shoulders were a little tense, but I am glad that it was very
minor. The driver didn’t have any insurance. So I have a lot that I need
to take care of. Please drive slow and don’t stop at the last minute.
Every one of you needs to arrive alive and don’t go anywhere unless you
really have to. Be careful.
About the NIU story. This is such a horrible thing that just has to
stop. Schools used to be the safest place for people. We need to think
of ways to protect ourselves and each other. We cannot hide nor can we
just ignore that this may never happen again. Just prepare and try to
make this world a safer place for you and others around you. God bless
those innocent lives that were taken on Feb. 14, 2008.
I hope that everyone’s classes are going wonderfully! I am still taking
16 credit hours and enjoying every one of my classes. I don’t know how I
am managing my time with these classes, but it’s working out
wonderfully! I am so happy! I knew that I would get the hang of it! Just
remember if a class isn’t working out, I would recommend withdrawing.
You wouldn’t want your grade to affect your GPA in any way shape or
form. Talk to your instructors and ask for their opinion.
Remember stay warm, drive slow, study, love and laugh.
Welcome back, students!
Jan. 22, 2008
Welcome back students and also welcome to Moraine those of you who are
new. I sure hope that each of you have set new goals and are completing
your previous goals as well.
To those of you who are new at Moraine Valley, please take advantage of
communicating with your instructors, the tutoring center, and also
meeting other students by joining some clubs that interest you. You will
absolutely love attending Moraine Valley Community College for so many
reasons. Moraine Valley provides financial aid to those that may be
eligible for it. Even if you think that they will turn you down, just
give it a try and see. It’s either a simple yes or no. You can even see
if you can apply for certain grants to help with books. They are so
sweet and so very patient if you have a lot of questions to be answered.
If you are still undecided about a career path, you can simply get a
counselor in the C building and go over classes that will complete your
goals.
To those who are returning, I hope that each of you are refreshed and
ready for a new semester! Just remember that there are so many people
here at Moraine that are willing to help you if you have any questions
at all. Never settle for less. Strive for the best and do the very best
that you can. That is all that matters. Spring break will be here in no
time!
Also remember to check out your instructors by simply going to
www.ratemyprofessor.com. I
wouldn’t pick one without it! TRUST ME!!!
Winter Break
Dec. 20, 2007
Relaxing on winter break.... what a beautiful thought! I am so glad
colleges, like Moraine Valley, give you time off for a whole month! It
sure is greatly appreciated! I cannot wait to open up gifts and see my
loved ones’ smiles while opening theirs. I am just planning on relaxing
and just simply working and being lazy for once!
I am preparing myself for 16 credit hours that I plan to take next
semester. It’s a brave move, but just in case a class isn’t for me, then
I will be able to drop and continue being a full time student. I do know
many people who work full time and also do 15 credit hours as well.
Have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year!
I’m an aunt!
Nov. 23, 2007
I became an aunt October 17, 2007. “Yay!” My nephew, Jayden Michael
Elitzer, was 6 lbs and 11 ounces. It’s an amazing experience. It is
amazing because I never thought that you could love someone so much that
you barely even know anything about. I also saw the birth of Jayden. I
just cried like a baby. This whole process was so educational to me.
Watching what his mother went through—she made it seem as if it was a
piece of cake—was so beneficial to me because I don’t have my mother
here to tell me what to expect when I go through this wonderful
experience.
What I hope for Jayden and my goals of being an aunt: I hope that he
becomes whatever his little heart desires. I plan to make sure he is
loved in all the right ways! I am here to give him everything that he
needs. (The word spoil doesn’t apply to an infant.) I also hope that he
develops a big heart for love. I want him to fulfill his everyday needs
and to know the difference between needs and wants. I want him to get so
much love that he never feels lonely. I expect him to go to college
without a doubt in my mind. I am going to be the pusher about education
and teach him how important school is nowadays. I can’t wait for him to
call me and just ask me a question about something. I will give him the
best advice that he will ever want and need. I will always be in his
life. He is now my little star.*
