After successful completion of the Moraine Valley Community College Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program, students are eligible to take the State Nurse Aide Competency examination. When a successful program completer passes the State Examination, he/she is listed in the State of Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry as a Certified Nurse Aide. After receiving certification by the State of Illinois, the student has the qualifications to seek employment in long-term care or chronic care facilities, hospitals, or home health agencies. Cost of the certification exam is $60, and is included in the course fee. For additional information on certification, please visit www.nurseaidtesting.com. Upon passing the State Nurse Aide Competency examination, program graduates receive a letter documenting that they passed the exam and this serves as the program completer’s “certificate.” To verify that an individual is qualified as a Certified Nurse Assistant in the State of Illinois, go to: http://www.idph.state.il.us/nar/home.htm.
