As president, I am proud to welcome you to Moraine Valley Community College. We have been helping individuals improve their lives by preparing for fulfilling careers, discovering new interests, and expanding their horizons through our many educational and cultural opportunities for over four decades.
As college becomes more expensive, you’ll appreciate that you can get a quality education at Moraine Valley without incurring a large amount of debt. In fact, Moraine Valley’s tuition is significantly less than what state and private colleges and universities charge. In addition, nearly 40 percent of our students qualify for some form of financial aid. Providing affordable education is central to our mission. We know that higher education enriches each of our student’s lives and increases their options. Therefore, we strive to make it accessible to every resident in our district.
We are the second-largest community college in Illinois, with more than 100 degree and certificate programs, which allow students to quickly move into the job market or to complete the first two years of their bachelor’s degree. Our small class sizes and caring instructors enable students to gain the skills and knowledge they need to successfully move ahead.
Also, students have access to a variety of support services, such as academic advising, tutoring, career counseling, and job-seeking assistance. Our flexible scheduling lets you take classes when it’s convenient—during the day, at night, on the weekends, or online. The Moraine Valley Education Center at Blue Island and Southwest Education Center in Tinley Park allow students to take classes in their own neighborhood. And, parents can enroll their kids in our Children’s Learning Center while they attend classes.
At Moraine Valley, students explore new interests and become well-rounded individuals. They can participate in clubs and organizations that appeal to their diverse interests and abilities. If you’re a high-achieving student, you may want to explore our Honors Program and become active in the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.
I’m certain you’ll discover we have a warm and inviting environment where each student is respected as an individual. I believe this is one of many reasons why nearly 100 percent of our students say they would recommend us to a friend.
I wish you the best while you are a student here and in your future endeavors after you leave the college as a Moraine Valley graduate. We are changing lives for a changing world.
