Join the Team

Interested in participating in competitive speech?
No experience necessary! Plan to attend the first team meeting in September (meeting information is posted in the Speech Team office) to receive information on tryouts. Students who miss this meeting should contact the coaches.

Season Schedule
The season runs from early October through mid-March. In addition to Monday meetings and coaching appointments, students spend an average of four to eight hours weekly developing speeches, and participate in three to five weekend tournaments each semester. Plus, if qualified, the team participating in the national tournament, which is held each April at varying cities across the country.
