The Communications, Literature, and Language
department at Moraine Valley offers four semesters of college German to students
who want to:
- Fulfill the foreign language requirements
of other colleges and universities
- Major in German
- Learn about the German cultures and their
language

General Description of German Courses
GERMAN I
- Speak and understand everyday German
- Develop reading ability
- Learn grammar
- Study pronunciation
- No prerequisite
GERMAN II
- Practice speaking and
understanding everyday German
- Improve pronunciation
- Emphasize reading
- Study essentials of grammar
- Investigate the influence of
German culture and immigrants on the United States
- Prerequisite: GER-101
GERMAN III
- Study German cultures
- Review grammar
- Emphasize the development of
writing skills
- Prerequisite GER-102 or three
years of high school German
GERMAN IV
- Investigate German
literature
- Continue to review grammar
- Improve and hone writing
skills
- Prerequisite: GER-201 or
four years of high school German

- Meeting the
foreign language requirements of various US graduate
