Quick Facts
Developmental Courses
According to the State of Illinois guidelines, developmental coursework cannot
count toward a degree. In addition, grades earned in developmental courses
will appear on a student's transcripts but will not be calculated into the
student's overall grade point average.
Placement Testing
All entering full-time students will take a comprehensive placement test before
registering for classes.
Pre-testing
Certain developmental communications, mathematics, and reading courses require a
pre-test, administered during the first class. This pre-test is used to identify
students who may have been improperly placed in a lower level course, and for
comparison with final exam grades to evaluate course effectiveness. The pre-test
does NOT count toward a student's course grade. Ask your instructor for
additional details on the use of the pre-test.
MTH-097, Geometry
Geometry is required for all students who did not complete one year of geometry
in high school with a grade of "C" or better.
