Course Development Materials

Major Course Revisions

The following changes require ICCB approval:

  • course prefix
  • course number
  • course title
  • credit hours
  1. Discuss proposed revisions with Department Chair and subdivision Dean or Assistant Dean as designated.

  2. Work with Dean of Academic Initiatives and Accountability to prepare an Intent to Develop and a Course Development and Revision form and revised course materials for discussion and approval by Department Chair and Subdivision Dean.

  3. Submit the approved Intent to Develop to the Curriculum Development Group for consideration, discussion, approval and permission to develop curriculum materials.

  4. Use the CurricUNET management system to enter all required curriculum materials and send the proposal into the notification and approval process.

  5. Consideration, recommendations and approval by the Department Chair, subdivision Assistant Dean and Dean, and the Dean for Academic Initiatives and Accountability.

  6. Consideration, recommendations and approval by the Curriculum Development Group (CDG).

  7. Consideration, recommendations and approval by the Curriculum Review Team (CRT).

  8. Consideration, recommendations and approval by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

  9. Send IAI-relevant curriculum to the college IAI Coordinator.

  10. Approved curriculum materials and all required state forms are finalized in the Office of the Dean for Academic Initiatives and Accountability.

  11. Final approval of all materials by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

  12. Materials are submitted to the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB).

  13. Approval is received from ICCB.

  14. The Office of the Dean for Academic Initiatives and Accountability notifies all relevant stakeholders at the college and approved curriculum materials are disseminated.

Approximate time frame: 4 – 6 months
