Awarding College Credit Overview

Students will be awarded college credit for articulated training programs successfully completed according to academy and related standards. To earn credit, a student must complete a college application to be enrolled in the designated college course(s) articulated.

Steps to Receive Credit

  1. Orientation—Students are to be informed at their first training session that they have an opportunity to earn college credit awarded by Moraine Valley for the scheduled academy training. Consistent with the partnership, tuition and related fees will be waived. The applicable training program information sheet and a college application need to be issued to academy students at the orientation session.

  2. College Application—Students must print all information requested, and will be advised if money is owed to Moraine Valley from a previous semester.  The application will not be accepted and they will not be enrolled as a student until the debt is paid in full.

Applications collected are to be forwarded to designated college contact with the Criminal Justice Education-Training Partnership Registration Form as the cover memorandum.

  3. College Admissions Office—Applications received by the college will be used by staff to enroll students in the courses/sections listed on the registration form. Applications containing errors, lacking complete information, and/or involving academy students that owe the college money from a previous semester will be returned to the criminal justice agency partnership liaison for completion and/or information purposes.

  4. College Reports—The following college reports will be issued to the criminal justice agency partnership liaison for information purposes and/or to complete and return to a designated college contact in the Admissions Office.

Class Roster--This form lists each student registered in the course displayed on the form. If discrepancies are detected, notify the college partnership liaison. You may post corrections on the class roster form and return to the college partnership liaison.

Apportionment Claim Verification Form--This form lists each student registered in the course displayed on the form. Please post the date in the Withdrawal Date Column if any student has  withdrew from the designated training program and return to the designated college contact. Given college reporting requirements, the turn around time for this form is ASAP. Please do not add names, make changes, etc. on this form.

Final Grade Report--This form lists each student registered in the course displayed on the form. Please post applicable letter grades for each student and return to the designated college contact. Please do not add names, make changes, etc. on this form.

Grades received by the college will be posted, and mailed to the residence of the student.

Special Situations

  1. To add students on the Class Roster Report (because of a late application; not listed on the original Class Roster Report; etc.)—prepare and submit an official Permission To Enroll Form.
  2. Please notify the college partnership liaison ASAP whenever any student withdraws from a designated academy training program.
