Career Exploration
Activities—Step One
Self-Assessment
The assessment links in part one will provide activities to help you learn more
about yourself. Having an understanding of yourself is an important first step
in the Career Exploration Process because the greatest satisfaction and highest
level of achievement in your work will come when what you do is compatible with
who you are. But a word of caution..Every assessment tool is just that—a tool. You must be careful not to base your decisions solely on the results
gathered from the assessment activities. It's important that you talk with a
career counselor from the Counseling and Career Development Center located in the
Building S, Student Services Center, Room S202. A counselor can help you process the information you
have now gathered about yourself and decide how to apply this to your career
decision.

Career Interest Game
The Career Interest Game was
developed by the University of Missouri. Be sure to read the introduction
and instructions for playing the game. This activity is designed to help you
match your interests and skills with similar careers. It can help you begin
thinking about how your personality might fit with specific work tasks, work
environments, and work interactions. This exercise is based on Dr. John
Holland's theory that people and work can be grouped into six different
themes.
