College Bowl
No, we don’t battle on a bowling alley. Students use knowledge to answer assorted questions much like on well-known television shows, and match wits against other colleges.

Forensics
As a Forensics (speech) team member, you can participate in a variety of speaking events, including persuasive or informative speaking, impromptu or extemporaneous speaking, and communications analysis. Forensics also encompasses oral interpretation events, including prose and poetry reading, and Reader’s Theater. Moraine Valley’s Forensics team has received state and national acclaim.

Glacier/Mastodon
Get the experience you need for a career in writing, photography or art. By joining either the staff of the Glacier or Mastodon, you can gain skills and develop a nice portfolio. See below.

Glacier
Join the staff of the student newspaper as a volunteer or earn college credit for your work. The Glacier staff meets in C157 at 3 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Staff members, especially those in administrative positions, are expected to devote considerable time and energy to producing a quality product. In return, if you meet the responsibilities drawn in your "contract," you will be eligible for tuition reimbursement.

Mastodon
Join the staff that puts together the literary works of students, staff and community members. The Mastodon is published every semester and includes poetry, fiction, nonfiction, artwork, and photographs. You can submit your creative works to C157 or place them in the drop box outside of the library.

Inter-Club Council
The Inter-Club Council (ICC) is the governing body of all co-curricular, cultural and special interest clubs on campus. Each club is a member of ICC and is responsible for having a member present at meetings held twice a month. ICC gives clubs a chance to meet and share ideas on field trips, fund raisers and recruitment  techniques. ICC also charters clubs, approves club and social calendars, submits budgets for all activities, supervises clubs chartered under the constitution of the ICC, forms subcommittees for special projects, and establishes good-conduct standards to be followed by all chartered clubs.

International Student Club
The International Student Club is a dynamic group of Moraine Valley Community College international and American students. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn about interesting and exciting cultures from 40 different countries. You’ll play an important role in helping international students adjust to life in the United States. In addition, you will gain knowledge about cultural differences—languages, traditions, music, food, political and religious life, schools, and attitudes.

P.E.P. (Peers Educating Peers)
P.E.P. is a group of trained student leaders whose primary goal is to promote and support healthy lifestyle choices in our community college environment. P.E.P. provides an opportunity for interested students to educate fellow students about topics that lead to positive/healthy choices and personal safety. These trained leaders will educate the college community about such issues as alcohol and substance use/abuse, sexual responsibility, keeping physically fit, HIV/AIDS, self esteem, stress management, healthy eating, family relationships and mediation.

Phi Theta Kappa 
Alpha Iota Lambda Chapter
Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for two-year and junior colleges. Membership requirements are a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher in 12 or more credit hours taken at Moraine Valley Community College. Phi Theta Kappa bases all programs on its four hallmarks: scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service. For more information visit the International Headquarters Web site at www.ptk.org.

Student Government Association
The Student Government Association allows you to get involved in the decision-making process at Moraine Valley. The association provides a forum for student issues, allows an opportunity for individual leadership development, offers student services for the college community, allows opportunities for social and educational learning environments, provides a line of communication from the students to the college administrators, and assists in volunteer work in the community.

Student Trustee
The student trustee, elected from the student body, represents the students on the Moraine Valley Community College Board of Trustees. Other responsibilities include representing the Student Government Association at college functions and serving as the Illinois Community College Board Student Advisory Committee representative. The student trustee must be willing to commit a minimum of 15 hours a week to the position and be willing to travel off campus.
