Cindy Nugent
Moving back to the Chicago area after eleven years in Sedona, Arizona, I returned to Moraine Valley to update my website and design skills. After taking several weekend Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver “marathon” sessions with Angela, I bit the bullet and purchased the creative software suite, and enrolled in the courses necessary to complete my website design certificate in order to advance my career as a self-employed web designer.

With help from many of the Women in Technology group, including Angela, Carol Antosz, my “Big Sister” and Kristine Christensen, my mentor and instructor, I was able to pull it all together and finish my certificate! Since then I continue to work with Julie Keaty of JFK Business Solutions, specializing in Content Management Website Design and development for many local businesses including the Village of Evergreen Park, the Chicago Ridge Public Library, the QuickBooks Queen – a fellow Women in Technology member - and the Sisters of St. Francis of Immaculate Mary in Joliet, among many others. I also started in a fantastic full-time position with Moraine Valley Fine and Performing Arts Center a few months ago.

Continuing my association with Moraine allows me to continue to pursue my higher education goals while working with many wonderful people in a field I continue to love – technology! Feel free to contact me at nugentc4@morainevalley.edu.

Fatima Alrayyan
Hi, my name is Fatima. I am pursuing the Local Area Network degree. It is my pleasure to be part of this group. I feel in the meetings, we are all equals. Last meeting I sat next to the Dean of Science and Computer Technology. I told her how I was having a problem finding any tutoring at Moraine Valley, especially in the LAN dept. I tried many areas at Moraine Valley with no luck. After speaking to the Dean about this, she called me the next day and she helped me. She found me two LAN students for tutoring assistance, and one of the students was in my class. There is now tutoring available in the LAN dept. I am so happy I found the Women in Technology mentoring group. The program coordinator directed me to a mentor, Kristen Edling, who met with me 5-6 times at the library until I started understanding some of the LAN topics. She guided me into the right path. I am trilled to have found this program and its members who gave me assistance and direction. You can contact me at fatimaalrayyan@yahoo.com.

Kelly Paleczny
Hello, I'm Kelly. I am a graduated networking student. I also earned my bachelor's degree in film and video from SIU, but the job market here for film was rather lacking. So, I chose to do something about it! I knew I was good at computers, but didn't know how to work that into a career, until I found the networking program at Moraine Valley. Because of this awesome program, I am currently employed in the VoIP department of Convergence Technologies. I'm very excited to be here and can't wait to meet new people! Cathy Sullivan
I have been working for construction/ engineering/ design-build/ architectural/ mechanical companies for over 20 years. Three of the large companies I worked for closed their offices. I have worked as a Project Manager's Assistant in almost every one of my jobs. For instance, when I was on projects, whether in an office or in the field, I helped with sales, estimating, billing, subcontracts, change orders, certificates of insurance, and other miscellaneous functions. I have in the past been taught by engineers to work in AutoCAD 13 & Microstation 5.0 for electrical and some mechanical drawings. On an AT&T project for wireless communications, I worked as an Engineering Tech and helped direct utility companies to the monopole sites that they were told to work on. After being laid-off from my last employment I decided to take classes in AutoCAD 2010 to further my education and to get out of the admin role. I’m presently taking classes at Moraine Valley Community College. Contact me at sullivanc92@student.morainevalley.edu.
