Mechanical Design and Drafting/CAD Department--Mechatronics Technology

Mechanical Design and Drafting/CAD Department--Mechatronics TechnologyMechatronics is the synergistic integration of mechanics, electronics, and computer controls with the intent to design better consumer and industrial products more efficiently and effectively. With the emergence of new materials, smaller and faster electronics, and advanced computer controls, products are being designed to seamlessly incorporate all of these new technologies. Mechatronics technicians are responsible for integrating and incorporating these inter-disciplinary, cutting-edge technologies to design these new products.

In Moraine Valley Community College's Mechanical Design and Drafting/CAD programs, you can gain knowledge and skills needed for a good-paying job in the industry, or you can prepare to transfer into a technical degree program at a four-year college or university. Our training programs are designed for individuals just beginning a career in the mechanical design and drafting field, or those already working in the industry who need to upgrade their skills.

The Mechatronics Technology Associate in Applied Science degree program prepares students for a career in the interdisciplinary field of mechatronics design, integrating CAD, mechanics, electronics, and computer controls. The curriculum incorporates existing courses from the Mechanical Design and Drafting/CAD, Electronics, and Information Management Systems career programs. Work on the latest software products and stay current with the latest design technology in our state-of-the-art computer labs.

The instructors in the program have extensive experience in their respective fields of instruction, so what you're learning in the classroom reflects skills that are needed in the industry. This degree program teaches you the skills to meet the job needs of highly automated manufacturing in the 21st century.
