FALL 2011

About the Book

On the morning of January 31, 2009, four Iranian security officials forced their way into journalist Roxana Saberi’s apartment in Tehran. As they ransacked her apartment, they accused her of being an American spy. She was arrested and taken to the notorious Evin Prison. Saberi was eventually tried and sentenced to an eight-year prison term. Her imprisonment led to an international outcry by major media outlets such as the BBC, ABC News, NPR, and the Wall Street Journal; human rights and journalism organizations; and ordinary individuals around the world. President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton also spoke out for Saberi’s release.
