Nicole Selvaggio joined the Cyclones as head coach of the women’s tennis team in 2013. In her first season at the helm, Selvaggio led her team to the NJCAA tournament in Texas and received the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference 2014 New Coach of the Year award. She also had several articles posted on the "Ask the Expert" panel for as well as served on the ITA Region III Awards committee. In 2014, Selvaggio was region and Skyway Coach of the Year, helped her team capture both conference and region championships as well as earn a berth to nationals.

Prior to coaching, Selvaggio completed two successful years as a player at Moraine Valley where she earned the NJCAA All-Region IV and All-Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference Player of the Year both seasons—2011 and 2012. She also helped lead her teams to the national tournament twice. Selvaggio was an NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete and conference All-Academic Athlete of the Year in addition to earning the 2013 Dick Durrant Award for the highest G.P.A. in the conference. While a student at Marist High School, she was ranked among the top 30 female tennis players in the state and held a #1 ranking in the USTA girls 16-18 and women’s open divisions.

Selvaggio wants her squad to work hard and fight through every match on the court. Although she instills a strict regime, she wants her athletes to have fun and enjoy playing tennis at the college level. “At the end of the season the girls will be better players and people. I want them to be known as fighters. At the end of every match, win or lose, I want them to have fought their hardest and let the results speak for themselves,” she said.

Selvaggio earned a bachelor's degree in English from Saint Xavier University. She is a professional tennis instructor at the Oak Lawn Racquet Club and is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry.
