Mark Horstmeyer

Mark Horstmeyer has served as head coach of the men's and women's cross country teams since the program started in 2000.

He has guided his women's teams to NJCAA Division I Region IV and Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference championships in 2003 and 2006 and a conference championship in 2010. His men's team won conference and region championships in 2004.

Horstmeyer was selected conference and Region IV Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2006 and conference coach of the year in 2010. He was named conference and region men's coach of the year in 2004.

Thirty-six men and women runners have earned Academic All-American honors. Twenty-eight individual runners and six teams have competed in the NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, 31 runners have earned all-region and 52 have received all-conference recognition, including four individual conference champions.

Horstmeyer, who also is Moraine Valley's director of College and Community Relations and an adjunct faculty member, holds a bachelor's degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and a master's degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.


Dimitri Dimizas
Assistant Coach

 

Dimitri Dimizas joined the Cyclones in 2011 as a first-year assistant coach after having a stellar career as a Cyclones runner from 2009 to 2010. Dimizas, who attends Lewis University, was a two-time national qualifier at the NJCAA Cross Country Championship in 2009 and 2010. He was All-Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference and All-NJCAA Region IV Division I in 2010. He still runs competitively having completed two half-marathons and a marathon over the past two years. He is a graduate of Richards High School.
