Tennis—Coaches
Bill Finn is the first-ever head coach of Moraine
Valley's men's tennis team, and 2013 is his ninth season. He coached the 2012
team to a championship in both the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference and
NJCAA Region IV as well as a 24th place
finish in the national tournament. He has been named Region IV and conference coach of the year for several consecutive seasons.
Finn also coaches the Cyclones women's tennis team in the fall.
Finn, also in his 29th year as Moraine Valley's athletics director, was the
college's men's basketball coach until his retirement from basketball after the 2003-04 season. During
his 22-year tenure,
he accumulated a 506-210 career record and
tallied twenty 20-plus win seasons. He also led his teams to the NJCAA Division II national tournament four
times, finishing in the final four in 1990 and 1999 and in the elite eight in
2001 and 2002.
Finn has a
bachelor's degree from Loras College (Iowa) and a master's degree from Chicago State
University.
