What is
the Study Abroad Program?
You can experience the excitement of travel
and living in Austria, Costa Rica, or England while you earn credits in foreign
languages and/or many other subjects.
What programs
are available?
As a member of the Illinois Consortium for International Studies and
Programs (ICISP), Moraine Valley Community College makes the following study
abroad programs available to its students:
- Salzburg
College—Salzburg, Austria
Salzburg College is located in the city of Salzburg, which is
considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The college is
housed in the buildings and grounds where The Sound of Music was
filmed. Earn 6-7 credits. Choose fall or spring semester, or summer program.
- Forester
Institute—San Jose, Costa Rica
The Forester Institute is located in the capital city of Costa Rica.
Situated 4,000 feet above sea level, the city enjoys year-round temperatures
in the 70s. Mountains, rain forests, beaches, and active volcanoes
provide interesting sites to visit. Earn 7 credits.
- Christ
Church College—Canterbury, England
Christ Church College is located in historic Canterbury, about 60
miles from London and 25 miles from the sea coast. Many historic sites
are in the area, including the famous Canterbury Cathedral. Earn 6-7
credits. Choose fall or spring semester, or summer program.
- Centre
for Medieval and Renaissance Studies—Oxford, England
Be among the first community college students from the U.S. to participate
in the Centre’s Medieval and Renaissance Studies summer program at Oxford
University in Oxford, England.
- University of Burgundy’s International
Center for French Studies—Dijon, France
The university, founded in 1902, sits in the capital city of the Burgundy
region—rich in history, culture and many of France’s finest vineyards.
Students will study the French language, culture, history, and more. Earn
6-7 credits. Summer session.
- Macquarie University—Sydney, Australia
Considered Australia’s innovative university, Macquarie is ranked in the
world’s top 100 universities and is best known as a top research university
that takes a multi-disciplinary approach to teaching and researching.
Enrollment is roughly 30,000 students, including more than 8,000
international students. Earn 7 credits. Summer session.

Do the credits
transfer?
Moraine Valley Community College accepts transfer credits for courses taken at
many of these study abroad schools. There are some restrictions as to
required grade point averages and credit hours to be taken.
