Career
Programs
Rather than readying you for transfer to a four-year college or university,
certificate and Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree programs prepare
you for employment after Moraine Valley. Some career programs also transfer to
some universities. Talk to an academic
advisor for more information.
Generally, if you attend college full time you
can complete a certificate in one academic year or less, or an Associate in
Applied Science degree in two academic years or less. Most programs can be
completed on a part-time basis, giving you the chance to fit classes into your
busy lifestyle. If you are uncertain which route will work best for you, we can
offer tips on planning your course schedule. Some
programs have specific requirements for admission and some begin at only certain
times of the year, so check early.
For a directory of the career programs offered
and requirements information, please consult the college catalog and appropriate
Career Program Course Requirement Guide.
Noncredit Courses for Personal Interest or
Career Advancement
In addition to credit classes, Moraine Valley offers noncredit courses for
individuals who would like to learn specific skills but aren't interested in
earning college credit. The noncredit course offerings are listed in each
semester's class schedule. It is mailed to all residences within the district
prior to the start of each semester—generally in April for summer term
classes, in July for fall semester classes, and in December for spring semester
classes. For more information on non-credit courses, contact Workforce
Development and Community Services.
