  • Students who have completed the Transfer General Education Core and have entered Saint Xavier University beginning fall 1998 or after are required to take Philosophy 150 (Philosophical Analysis) for 3 semester-hours of credit and one religious studies course for 3 semester-hours of credit. These courses must be taken at SXU.

  • Students who transfer with only part of the Transfer General Education Core completed will be given credit toward Saint Xavier University's core requirements.

  • Students who transfer with general education credit from multiple institutions will have their transcript evaluated on a course-by-course basis.

IAI Major Course Acceptance
Saint Xavier University will accept IAI major courses (Transfer Majors) for transfer. However, IAI major courses may be applied toward a Saint Xavier University major with the following restrictions:

  • If Saint Xavier University offers an IAI equivalent major course, the course to be transferred will apply toward the requirements for that major.

  • If no equivalent is offered at Saint Xavier University, the course will be transferred as a University-wide elective. Students may contact individual departments at Saint Xavier University to determine if this course can be used to fulfill major requirements or major electives. Departments make the final decision on accepting these courses toward their majors.

  • Students who transfer with major course credit from multiple institutions will have their transcript evaluated using existing articulation agreements or on a course-by-course basis.

Major Specific Transfer Agreements with MVCC

Early Childhood and Elementary Education (Associate in Arts (AA) or an Associate in Science (AS) The 2 + 2 Articulation Agreement between MVCC and SXU is designed to allow students earning an Associate in Arts (AA) or an Associate in Science (AS) to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education for an Illinois Type 04 certification, or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education for an Illinois Type 03 certification in four years.  By participating in this agreement, transfer of credits, timely completion of all program and certification requirements and better sequencing of learning experiences are assured for students.
