Recreation Management—About the Program

As today's changing work patterns increase our leisure time, the recreation profession is being challenged to provide more opportunities for meaningful experiences. The Recreation Management Program at Moraine Valley Community College meets this challenge by preparing professionals for employment in a variety of recreation settings.

Today's expanding opportunities include services in park districts, health clubs, correctional institutions, outdoor recreation facilities, senior citizen centers, armed forces, university student unions, corporate recreation, cultural arts programs, resorts, luxury hotels and other exciting places.

This program is intended to lead to employment. Students completing this program may apply for Illinois Parks and Recreation Association certification.

Nature of Work
Graduates will schedule programs and facilities, develop and lead recreation activities, supervise and train staff, use knowledge of business practices to prepare budgets, plan public relations activities and use computers for basic office management.
