Private Protective
Services—About the Program
 The Private Protective Services Program offers coursework for students who have an interest in:

Basic training to pursue careers in the private security field.

Training to meet certification standards as an armed and/or unarmed security officer.

Specialized training designed to meet personal goals with regard to improved job knowledge and skills, new supervisory responsibilities, and career growth.

Applying completed program courses toward a two-year degree in criminal justice and/or Private Protective Services Certificate.
Moraine Valley offers three options for 30-hour certificates:

Entry-Level Officer

Supervisory

Life Safety
In each option, you will receive a solid background of private security's role in society. The program covers a broad spectrum of topics related to private protective services, such as crisis management, first aid, investigation techniques, firearms, laws, special problems and concerns and criminal evidence.
Moraine Valley's program includes an internship that allows you to gain valuable on-the-job experience to apply what you have learned in your courses.
You may be eligible to earn college credits for what you already know from prior learning or work experience.

This certificate program requires fewer credit hours to complete than an associate's degree and is intended to lead to immediate employment. If you are considering transferring to a four-year college or university to obtain a bachelor's degree using the courses from this program, make an appointment with an academic advisor to review your options. |
