Fire Service Management—About the Program
There are several programs to choose from:
- Fire Service
Management—Prepares the student to meet fire service career development needs linked to the responsibilities of a company officer and higher positions.
- Fire Inspection—Provides skills and technological expertise in fire prevention and safety for both fire service and non-fire service personnel.
- Firefighter Specialist—Provides students the opportunity to explore fire service as a career; while providing fire service practioners an opportunity to pursue specialized training linked to alternative fire service career paths.
Proficiency Credit allows a Moraine Valley student to received credit for vocational, noncredit training for which certificates have been earned.
Process for obtaining credit:
- Schedule a meeting with Alternative Learning
located in B260.
- You will receive an overview of the proficiency credit process, facilitate preparation of required forms, and assign a Fire
Service Management faculty member to review the request.
- Students seeking college credit through the Proficiency Credit process must be a registered student at Moraine
Valley Community College.
- Students pay a fee for each course posted to their transcript. The current fee is $25, subject to change.
- Letter grades such as "A," "B," etc. are not assigned. Instead "P" for pass is assigned. Grade point averages are not affected by this grade.
The process is not immediate, but does take some time. Planning ahead is encouraged.
