People Who Made a
Difference
Moraine Valley Community College
faculty members clearly are making a difference in the lives of our students.
Here, read some of what our graduates and former students have to say about
faculty who helped them find success and make the most of their Moraine Valley
education.

Aileen Donnersberger
Instructor, Education
Department Chair of Social Science
Director of Education“Let me
start off by saying she is awesome. When I took my first education
class, it had been some 20 years since high school. I was very
frightened…. She very quickly put me at ease and let me know that she
was available any time I needed her…. She was such an inspiration; she
not only taught me about being an educator – she made me look at myself
as a person and made me strive to be a better person. She is very
knowledgeable in her field.”
Ann Spadoni, Blue Island

Debra Guerrero
Associate Professor/Coordinator,
Respiratory Therapy Technology/Polysomnography
“Deb was my respiratory instructor. Deb
was fabulous—always able to explain something in different ways so that
you could understand the concepts. Always willing to go the extra mile
to meet with you and help you with anything that you may be struggling
with. I learned SO very much from Debbie and truly appreciate everything
I learned from her – she is an amazing teacher and person.”
Arrianda Mejia, Oak Lawn |

Joseph Flynn
Assistant Professor, Business
Coordinator, Accounting“He
made accounting interesting and fun. He taught me that speaking up in
class will prepare me to voice my opinion in the business world. Because
of my experience in his class, I have chosen accounting as my career.”
Jonathan Zielke, Tinley Park

Janet Kotash
Professor, Natural Science
Department Chair, Physical Sciences
“Mrs. Kotash is by far one of the most
positive forces on the Moraine Valley campus. Her commitment to students
goes far beyond the classroom. Mrs. Kotash makes herself available to
her students outside of the classroom to build on the lessons they
learn. This gives them the chance to apply real-life changes in their
lives which has benefits to both the student and the world around them….
She has been more than a teacher to me: she has been a mentor for living
a healthy lifestyle. The positive impact has reached every aspect of my
life, including health, studies, and work.

Delwyn Jones
Assistant Professor, Communications
and Speech“Delwyn Jones is
an amazing teacher…. He found a way to make everyone comfortable and
confident. I was nervous about talking in front of others, but Mr. Jones
was always very positive and understanding of mistakes. I feel that I am
a better public speaker because of his class and that is a skill I can
use in my employment setting.”
Jennifer England, Hickory Hills |
 |
John Sands
Professor/Coordinator, Information
Technology“John Sands has
always made himself available to answer questions and provide the
guidance I was lacking. John Sands would point me in a direction that
paralleled my career as technology continued to change and grow.”
Thomas Obmascik, Downers Grove |
 |
Maryan Jatczak
Assistant Professor, Nursing
“Ms. Jatczak was the ultimate instructor….prompt, knowledgeable,
passionate about nursing, exacting and demanding, but above all, a
compassionate listener. Her availability to listen was a deciding factor
in my efforts each semester as I struggled with the demands of school,
home and ailing parents. I credit her with the provision of the
encouragement and support I needed to complete my degree.”
Jeanne Skelly, Oak Park |

Richard
Wolf
Assistant Professor,
Philosophy/Humanities“Dr.
Wolf really helped me to change my view on life for the better. He
always knew how to make the class laugh, but also taught us to think for
ourselves.”
Katelyn Conerty, Palos Heights
“Out of all the years I attended college, I never came across another
teacher who had such a genuine passion for what they did. Dr. Wolf
clearly loved teaching, but what was even more apparent was his concern
for his students. There was a point in his class where I began to
struggle, not because of course difficulty, but from outside influences.
Dr. Wolf helped me get through his class and provided words of
encouragement. I am now going to be taking my physical agility test for
the Chicago Police Department, and Dr. Wolf’s words still motivate and
encourage me to succeed and help others today.”
