Moraine Valley Community College again ranks among the top 8 percent of the 1,186 community colleges nationwide in associate’s degrees conferred, according to a national newspaper report. Moraine Valley also again ranked fourth in the nation in associate degrees conferred in Multi/Interdisciplinary Studies (science transfer programs).
The report, published in Community College Week, is based on an analysis of U.S. Department of Education data for the 2007-2008 academic year.
“Our high national ranking is testament to the college’s outstanding efforts at increasing student success,” Dr. Vernon O. Crawley, president of the college, said.
That effort continued in 2008-09. Moraine Valley, the second largest community college in Illinois, awarded 1,758 degrees and certificates to 1,573 graduates in 2009, bringing the total number of degrees and certificates awarded since 1969 to 44,918.
