The Cisco Academy Training Center (CATC), based at Moraine Valley Community College, is providing training programs for teachers this summer throughout the United States and internationally. After attending these sessions teachers will be able to help students earn their Certified Cisco Networking Associate (CCNA) certification.
Cisco is the leading supplier of networking equipment and management for the Internet. CATC has released a new CCNA level networking security curriculum available for students this fall. Before the new curriculum can be taught, teachers can take a “train-the-trainer” session designed by CATC at Moraine Valley. A group of Cisco-certified industry experts this summer will travel across the United States and communicate internationally via WebEx to prepare instructors. WebEx is a Cisco tool that specializes in telecommunications. Everyone involved in the WebEx web conferencing will be able to share documents, presentations and collaborate as if in-person.
Students who start in the fall with this new curriculum will be able to obtain their CCNA security certification. This type of certification meets the needs of IT professionals who are responsible for network security and opens up job opportunities such as network security specialist, security administrator and network security support engineer.
The training began May 26-28 at Moraine Valley in collaboration with a WebEx to Europe and Africa, then continues in several states throughout June and July, and finally culminates back on campus August 5-7.
