Moraine Valley Community College graduate Eduardo Pena has earned Northern Illinois University’s first Transfer Center Residential Scholar Award. Pena will start at Northern this fall.
“This scholarship will really help me afford to go to school,” Pena said. “I’m very happy that I put in the extra effort and got something like this scholarship for my hard work.”
Twenty-four Transfer Center Residential scholarships were awarded for the 2009-10 school year. The award goes toward costs of rooming at the university. Recipients had to have a 3.0 GPA and be actively involved in their previous school. An Argo graduate, Pena was involved in the campus Business Club and played soccer at Moraine Valley for the past two years. He completed his Associate Degree in Science this summer. When Pena starts at Northern, he intends to continue being active in campus groups and major in Accounting.
